Equip Foods Review: Why I Switched to Grass-Fed Beef Protein

Equip Foods Review: Why I Switched to Grass-Fed Beef Protein

If you’ve followed me for a while, you know I care a lot about the quality of the food and supplements I put into my body. Between training, traveling for our Grown Strong Retreats, running our fitness program, being a newly mom, and trying to perform at a high level consistently, I’ve realized that how I fuel matters just as much as how I train.

For years, I used traditional whey protein powders because that’s what most athletes use. But over time, I started noticing that many whey proteins left me feeling bloated, heavy, or just not great digestion-wise. Some were also loaded with artificial sweeteners, gums, fillers, and ingredients I honestly didn’t want to consume daily.

That’s what originally made me curious about beef protein powder and eventually led me to Equip Foods.

After using their products consistently, Equip has become one of the few supplement brands I genuinely keep stocked in our house. Switching to Equip made a noticeable difference for me, especially while traveling and trying to consistently hit my protein goals every day.

If you already know you want to try it, my code will save you 20%.

What Is Beef Protein Powder?

Beef protein powder is exactly what it sounds like: protein sourced from beef instead of dairy or plant-based proteins.

Equip’s Prime Protein uses grass-fed beef protein isolate and provides a complete amino acid profile while remaining dairy-free and easy to digest. Unlike many traditional protein powders, it’s also free from gums, soy, gluten, artificial sweeteners, and unnecessary fillers.

One thing many people don’t realize is that beef protein can equally (if not better) support muscle recovery and performance similarly to whey protein while being a better option for people who struggle with digestion issues from dairy-based products.

Beef Protein Powder vs Whey Protein

Whey Protein

Whey protein is popular because it’s fast-digesting and rich in amino acids. But for a lot of people, it can also cause:

  • Bloating
  • Stomach discomfort
  • Acne
  • Digestive issues
  • Sensitivity to dairy

Not everyone experiences this, but I personally noticed a difference when I stopped relying on whey daily.

Beef Protein

What I’ve liked about beef protein powder is that it feels much easier on my stomach!

Since switching to Equip Foods, I’ve noticed:

  • Better digestion
  • Less bloating
  • Easier recovery while traveling
  • More consistency with protein intake
  • Cleaner ingredients overall

Why I Chose Specifically Equip Foods

There are a lot of beef protein brands out there now, but Equip stood out to me because of their ingredient quality and sourcing standards.

Their products are made with:

  • Grass-fed beef protein
  • Minimal ingredients
  • No artificial sweeteners
  • No gums or fillers
  • Dairy-free formulas
  • Third-party tested ingredients

That simplicity matters to me. There's nothing worse than taking a closer look at an ingredients list to find out there's hundreds (slightly overexaterating perhaps) of unnecessary ingredients.

The supplement industry is literally full of products with long ingredient labels that look more like chemistry experiments than food. Equip keeps things straightforward, which aligns much more with how we try to eat and live day-to-day.

My Favorite Equip Foods Products

Prime Protein

This is the product I use the most.

Their Prime Protein contains around 20–21g of protein per serving from grass-fed beef and comes in flavors that honestly taste way better than most “healthy” protein powders I’ve tried.

My current favorite is Chocolate Churro.

I use it for:

  • Post-workout shakes
  • Smoothies
  • Ninja Creami recipes
  • Overnight oats
  • Travel protein shakes

It mixes well, tastes good, and doesn’t upset my stomach.

My Go-To Overnight Eggs & Oats Recipe

One of my favorite ways to use Equip Protein lately has been in this overnight eggs and oats recipe. Ras and I batch this recipe for up to 4 days at a time because it’s easy to make, packed with protein, and honestly tastes even better cold the next day.

It’s become one of my favorite breakfasts before heading to the gym.

Ingredients

  • 45g sprouted oats, soaked overnight in milk
  • 10g Equip Foods Protein, flavor of choice
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 egg white
  • 30g banana
  • 40g blueberries
  • 20g blackberries
  • 15g heavy cream
  • 5g honey
  • Cinnamon
  • Sea salt

Method

  1. Add the oats to a large pot with water like you would for traditional oatmeal.
  2. Cut the banana into smaller pieces and mix it into the oats while cooking. Add cinnamon here as well. I personally add a lot.
  3. While the oats cook on medium heat, whisk together the eggs and egg whites in a large bowl with a little sea salt.
  4. Once the oats start getting thicker and are almost done cooking, add the egg mixture.
  5. Lower the heat slightly and continue stirring consistently so the pot doesn’t burn.
  6. Once you begin seeing small white pieces from the eggs cooking through, leave it on for another minute or two before removing from heat.
  7. Mix together the honey, Equip protein, mashed blueberries, blackberries, cinnamon, and sea salt.
  8. Top with heavy cream and enjoy.

Macros Per Serving

  • Carbohydrates: 60g
  • Fats: 14g
  • Protein: 30g

You can also switch up the toppings however you want depending on your goals or what you have at home.

Prime Protein Bars

When we’re traveling internationally or hosting retreats, convenience matters a lot.

Equip’s Prime Bars have become one of my favorite travel snacks because they contain 20g of protein without the ultra-processed ingredient lists you find in a lot of traditional protein bars.

They’re easy to throw in a backpack, bring on flights, use when breastfeeding, or keep in the car during busy days.

Beef Organs + Colostrum

These are two other products from Equip that I’ve incorporated more recently.

Their Beef Organs capsules are designed to provide nutrients sourced from grass-fed organs, while their colostrum products focus more on gut and immune support.

I’ve become much more intentional about supporting recovery, digestion, and overall health, especially during high-volume training phases and travel-heavy seasons.

Why Protein Quality Matters

A lot of people focus only on hitting a certain protein number each day, but I think ingredient quality and digestibility matter just as much.

If your protein powder constantly leaves you bloated or feeling bad, it’s probably not something you’re going to consistently use long term.

That’s one of the reasons I’ve stayed with Equip Foods.

For me, it checks the boxes that matter most:

  • High-quality protein source
  • Minimal ingredients
  • Grass-fed sourcing
  • Easy digestion
  • Good taste
  • No dairy
  • No artificial junk

And honestly, consistency is everything when it comes to nutrition.

Is Equip Foods Worth It?

In my opinion, absolutely!

It’s definitely more premium than some of the cheaper protein powders on the market, but you can also feel the difference in ingredient quality.

I’d personally rather spend a little more on something I actually feel good taking every single day than force myself through giant tubs of protein powder filled with artificial ingredients.

If you’ve struggled with whey protein, digestion issues, or want a cleaner protein option, I think beef protein is worth trying.

Equip Foods has become one of those staples for me because the products fit how I try to fuel my body:

  • Real ingredients
  • High-quality sourcing
  • Easy digestion
  • Simple formulas that actually taste good
